Real Madrid have been dealt with a major blow as starting right-back Dani Carvajal is set to miss the clash against Atletico Madrid on Sunday following a muscle injury, reported Spanish news outlet Marca on Friday.
The player underwent a Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) scan which confirmed that the 31-year-old is suffering from a muscle injury that will keep him out for 10 days.
The Spaniard will miss the matches against Atletico Madrid, Las Palmas and Girona, the report added.
Carvajal picked up the injury during Madrid's league game against Real Sociedad but it was said by the sources close to the club that the injury is not serious but after the latest scans, it is confirmed he will miss important league matches.
The five-time UEFA Champions League (UCL) triumphant already missed Madrid's UCL opener against Union Berlin, which the home side won after a late winner by new signing Jude Bellingham.
It must be noted that the Whites have had rotten luck with injuries this season as first-choice goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois and centre-back Eder Militao have been ruled out till April after tearing their Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL).
Other than those two, Madrid's new-signing Arda Guler is also yet to play a game as he tore his meniscus in a training session during the Whites' pre-season tour to the United States, but thee 18-year-old is back in training and will make his debut soon.
Vinicius Junior also tore his hamstring in the 13th minute of the match against Celta Vigo in August and was ruled out for six weeks.
However, the Brazilian footballer recovered miraculously in just a month and may be back on the field by next week, when the Los Blancos will take on Las Palmas at the Santiago Bernabeu.
